Who we are

CinemaMapped (cinemamapped.com) is an interactive map showing where WWII films and series are set, operated from the Netherlands.

What data we collect

CinemaMapped does not collect, store, or process any personal data directly. The site has no user accounts, no sign-up forms, and no contact forms.

If you give consent, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data including:

Pages visited and time spent
General location (country/region level — not precise)
Device type and browser
How you arrived at the site (search, direct, referral)

This data is aggregated and anonymous. It cannot be used to identify you as an individual.

Cookies

CinemaMapped uses the following cookies:

cm_analytics — stores your cookie consent choice (yes/no). Stored in your browser's localStorage. No expiry set — persists until you clear your browser data.
Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) — only set if you accept analytics. Used to distinguish users and sessions. Expires after 2 years. See Google's Privacy Policy.

If you decline analytics, no tracking cookies are set.

Legal basis (GDPR)

We operate under EU/GDPR rules. Analytics data is only collected on the basis of your explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage for cinemamapped.com and refreshing the page — the consent banner will reappear.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties beyond Google Analytics (as described above). Google may process data on servers outside the EU — see their Privacy Policy for details.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold. Since we hold no personal data directly, there is nothing to access or delete. For data held by Google Analytics, see Google's data retention policies.

Affiliate links

CinemaMapped participates in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon. When you click a "Watch on Amazon" link and make a purchase, CinemaMapped may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Clicking an Amazon affiliate link may result in Amazon setting cookies on your device as described in Amazon's Privacy Notice. CinemaMapped does not receive or store any data about your Amazon purchases.

Microsoft Clarity

In addition to Google Analytics, CinemaMapped uses Microsoft Clarity (only if you accept analytics) to record anonymised session behaviour such as mouse movements and clicks. This helps us understand how users interact with the map. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement for details.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes significantly, we will update the date at the top of this page.
