A French Village — France
A fictional French village lives through the entire arc of occupation — collaboration, resistance, deportation and liberation — across seven seasons from 1940 to 1945 and their aftermath.
Vichy became the seat of Marshal Pétain's collaborationist government after the June 1940 armistice. The Zone Libre it governed included central and southern France until Germany occupied all of France in November 1942. A French Village depicts the gradual moral compromises, denunciations, heroism and collaboration that occupation produced in ordinary communities across six years.
