Lyudmila Pavlichenko (1916-1974) was the most successful female sniper in history with 309 confirmed kills. She served at Odessa and Sevastopol before being wounded and evacuated in 1942. She toured the US and Canada to advocate for a second front, famously telling Eleanor Roosevelt's audience: 'I am 25 years old and I have already killed 309 fascist occupants. Don't you think, gentlemen, that you have been hiding behind my back for too long?'
