Betrayed — Norway
The 2020 Norwegian film depicts the deportation of Norwegian Jews via the SS Donau from Oslo on 26 November 1942 — the day over 500 Norwegian Jews were shipped to Auschwitz, most never to return.
On 26 November 1942, the SS Donau departed Oslo Pier 1 carrying 532 Norwegian Jews — the largest single deportation of Norwegian Jews. Of those deported, only 9 survived the war. The operation was carried out by Norwegian police at German direction. Norway's wartime government later formally apologised for Norwegian complicity in the deportations. The film replaces the incorrect Brussels location previously assigned.
