The civilian internment camp south of Shanghai where Jim spends most of the war years.
Lunghua Camp held approximately 2,000 Allied civilians from 1943-1945. Author J.G. Ballard, on whose memoir the film is based, was interned there as a child. Conditions deteriorated sharply in the final year as Japanese supply lines collapsed.
