Hacksaw Ridge — Japan
Conscientious objector Desmond Doss single-handedly saves 75 soldiers at the Battle of Hacksaw Ridge without firing a shot.
Desmond Doss is the only conscientious objector to receive the Medal of Honor. Over a single night on May 21, 1945, he lowered 75 wounded men down the 12-metre escarpment. His citation called it 'one of the most conspicuous and outstanding acts of bravery in action recorded in the annals of the Army.'
