The 332nd Fighter Group flew from Ramitelli from May 1944, flying 15,553 individual sorties and 1,578 missions. They were the only fighter group in the 15th Air Force not to lose a single escorted bomber to enemy fighters. The unit earned 96 Distinguished Flying Crosses.
