The People vs Fritz Bauer — Germany
The 2015 German film depicts Attorney General Fritz Bauer's secret cooperation with Israeli Mossad to locate Adolf Eichmann in Argentina — working around his own West German government which was full of former Nazis.
Fritz Bauer (1903-1968) was a German-Jewish public prosecutor who drove the Frankfurt Auschwitz Trials (1963-65) and secretly tipped the Mossad to Eichmann's whereabouts in Buenos Aires. He could not act through official West German channels because, as he said, 'whenever I leave my office, I'm in enemy territory' — former Nazis occupied positions throughout the West German justice system.
