Unbroken — Pacific Ocean
Louis Zamperini and two crew members survive 47 days adrift on a rubber raft after their B-24 crashes in the Pacific.
Zamperini's 47 days on the raft set a world survival record at the time. He and Russell Phillips survived on rainwater, raw fish, and albatrosses they caught by hand. Zamperini had been an Olympic distance runner — his physical conditioning was a decisive factor in his survival.
