General Patton's first major victory — the Battle of El Guettar where US forces defeat Rommel's Afrika Korps.
El Guettar (March 23, 1943) was the first significant US ground victory against the German Army in WWII. After the disaster at Kasserine Pass, Patton was given command and within weeks transformed American fighting effectiveness in North Africa.
